Remodeling is More than Windows and Wood

Remodeling Road Tour: There are myriad decisions to be made when remodeling a room or building an addition. For an additional fee, color and interior designer Christina Van Horn, who as a company partner is well-versed in how projects are built, introduces clients in a local tour to five different suppliers – tile, flooring, kitchens, counters and lighting. This gives our clients a chance to see what is out there from companies we trust, as well as get personal attention from their staffs. Christina gives advice, answers questions and puts the products into the context of the whole project, in terms of scheduling, cost, viability and how to go about getting samples. She is a certified by Build It Green as a green professional.

Color/Interior Design: Christina is an experienced interior and color designer and loves nothing better than to figure out the most efficient and aesthetic use possible of space and what colors will best enhance the interior and exterior of your home. Visit her web site at www.cvhcolor.com to get a sense of what to expect when you work with her. A sample of her work can be seen on the left.

Attentiveness: We listen to our clients to give them what they want, not what we think they should have.

Where to Go: eastbaycabinets.com for custom cabinets, albanycabinets.com for kitchen and bath cabinets, abbeycarpet.com, El Cerrito for flooring, amberflooring.com for wood floors, tile-shop.com for tile, truitandwhite.com for windows, doors and hardware, berkeleylighting.com for interior and exterior lighting and cvhcolor.com for color design and decorating.

Green building is about recycling houses. If you have decided to remodel a kitchen or bath, or build on an addition, rather than building a new home, you are recycling. Wherever possible, we rebuild back into your home the materials we take out of it. This is not to say that we can reuse all the old wood or flooring. But many doors, door handles, windows, heating systems and beams can be put to good use.

We can direct you to products that are made with a consciousness to the preciousness of the environment.
